Let’s start with some metrics. Twitter has more than 75 million unique visitors per month (Jan 2010) , more than 50 million tweets are published every day (Feb 2010), the 10,000,000,001th tweet has been published (March 2010), and more than 50,000 applications have made use of Twitter’s APIs. Let me catch my breath.
Looking at the ecosystem is a little bit more challenging, but in some ways more important. A key measure is how much money have investors put behind Twitter based startups? We know that as of June 2009, $23.3m had flown to Twitter-Based Startups (vs. the $100m+ attracted by iPhone startups)
